Volcano Black Bark (vendue/sold)

description

The challenge : to have fun producing a compact volcano, without an apparent shank, which can be lugged in a pocket and carried to the mouth without dislodging the jaw. So, a perfect nose-warmer. Why not ? Play again on contrasts with different works on many greek briar faces. Vertical streaks around the bowl to evoke bark, a slightly guilloche flat on the back and finally just a carnauba wax on smooth heel. A short saddle stem with a prominent bit - cut from Japanese cumberland noticeably softer than its German version - fits directly into the head with no added flock.
